The software industry contributes billions of dollars annually to the U.S. economy and employs millions of Americans. Programmers like to think of software as the carefully crafted product of intelligent design. If not, plug into a different USB port. Maybe your car needs to be running before the OBD port communicates propperly? (Again, I'm NOT a mechanic... this is your call.) * Have you RECENTLY tried any other scanner tool on your vehicle? It's possible the OBD port itself is bad or has a loose connection. Have you tried your ELM on a different vehicle? NOTE that I don't recommend any of these products... I am just listing something that may or may not be of use to you. If you try it and it works, please let us know in the comments. Thanks! A multilingual OBD reader (with free trial): http://bit.ly/ZDelz6

This is an introduction video to DC++ - a client for the Direct Connect Network. Transcript: ##### Hi and welcome to this introduction to DC++, a client for the Direct Connect Network I am Fredrik Ullner and in this video I will go through downloading, installing, configurating and finally running DC++. We first need to download DC++. Open up your browser, go to a search engine and type in DC++. When you are looking at the search results, make sure that you go through the official DC++ website. Verify that the addresses point to SourceForge. When you are on the official website, you can simply click 'Download DC++' as shown here. Your browser will ask you if you want to run or save the file. It's a good idea to save the file if you want to re-install DC++ later on or give it to a friend. We run the installer file, and get prompted to verify that we indeed want to run the file. Make sure that you have administration rights and get permission to install DC++. When the DC++ installer starts, you are prompted with a dialog to choose the language that we want to use for the installation process. The next page describe what license DC++ uses. Make sure you read through the entire license agreement before agreeing. The next page allow you to select which components you want to install. The first item is DC++ itself, which is required. The second it whether you want to have country information for users, and the rest are self explanatory. The next page allow you to select the location where DC++ should be installed in. When you are satisfied with your options, simply click Install to begin the installation process. Press 'Close' when the process is completed. We locate the shortcut on the Start menu and start DC++. When DC++ has started, we are prompted with the settings dialog and the DC++ help file. The help file can explain Direct Connect as well as settings, terminology and frequently asked question. The help file can always be reached by clicking on Help. DC++ only require one setting to function; the nick name or handle that you will use on Direct Connect. DC++ will automatically try and detect the best possible connection for you but may sometimes fail. The passive mode should only be used as a last resort. I will however use it in this video to quickly show you downloading and searching. You can select the location where DC++ should by default store downloaded file. You can select the directories where you have content that you want to share with others. When you are done with these basic settings, click OK. Now we need to find some hubs to connect to. We open up the Public Hubs window, either via the View menu or by clicking on the toolbar. DC++ will then download a hub list and present all the hubs that it has. You can also select a different hub list. When the hub list has been downloaded, you can go through the different hubs and see which hub may suit your interest. Click on the different tabs to sort according to amount of users etc. Either double click or right click the hub you want to connect to. When you login, you are usually greeted with some message and possibly rules that apply to the hub. To write to everyone in the hub, you can simply write in the text field and send the message by pressing Enter. This message will then appear to everyone else as well. The user list on the right side are other people in different countries all around the world. All of these people have something to share, as you can see on the Shared tab. To connect to someone, you can either double click them in the userlist or right click and select Get file list. DC++ will then proceed to download the user's file list enabling you to see what they are sharing. You can then browse the file list for files you want. When you have found a directory or file you want to download, double click the item or right click and select Download. DC++ will then proceed to download the file or directory, as you can see in the bottom window. You can also see here the speed and when the file will be downloaded. You will also see here any uploads from you. To search for files, open the Search window, and enter a search term and select restraints on what results you want. E.g., if you only want audio files or video files. To see if we are indeed able to search, I will enter a search term I know will get results, which is the file we are downloading. To download a file, double click or right click and select Download. Since we are already downloading this file, DC++ will automatically add all others as source for this file. We can see what files we have queued up by going to the Download Queue, either via the menu or the toolbar. To remove a file from the queue, right click and select 'Remove'. You can also use the Delete key on your keyboard. Confirm that you want to remove the file.

I spent the summer fully immersed in interdisciplinary research, working on my own project, attending high-level lectures, and discussing new concepts over lunch and tea. It was the most challenging and rewarding research experience I have ever had, and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to work in such an extraordinary collaborative environment." -Madeleine Daepp, 2012 REU Cohort Music by Podington Bear

How does this new model stack up? watch and see... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blaupunkt-BPSD530-San-Diego-Bluetooth-DVD-CD-GPS-Navigation-Multimedia-Receiver-/141350754895?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20e9295a4f Blaupunkt's San Diego 530 DVD navigation receiver provides reliable guidance and lets you choose your favorite entertainment sources from the driver's seat. You can take advantage of convenient directions through the receiver's 6.2" display, which doubles as a portal to your audio and video favorites, hands-free calling, and audio streaming. On top of all these options, you'll have fantastic Blaupunkt sound to accompany your travels. Explore your surroundings Take the San Diego 530 around town or across the country with confidence. It'll provide directions across all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and it offers millions of points of interest for when it's time to get off the road. You'll even hear actual street names announced at turns. Lane guidance ensures you'll be in the correct position for your next turn, and you can see realistic views of certain complicated intersections for easier navigation. Certain areas will be shown with 3D graphics for buildings, landmarks, elevated roads, and terrain so you can orient yourself more quickly. The San Diego 530's powered by iGO primo navigation software, which has become an industry standard over the past few years because it's fast, accurate, and easy to use. You can also add an optional traffic-info receiver to get real-time updates on congestion along your route. Bluetooth® calling and music streaming The San Diego 530 offers Bluetooth connectivity, so you'll be able to make and take calls using your compatible phone through the stereo. You have a choice of the built-in mic on the front panel or an included external microphone, so your callers will hear you clearly, no matter what kind of vehicle you drive. Built-in A2DP technology allows you to stream music from your smartphone through this receiver. Entertainment options A composite A/V output lets you send movies or other video content to external video monitors, so you can keep the whole crew happy when you're on a road trip. A 10-band parametric equalizer lets you put a personal touch on your sound, and the full complement of preamp outputs includes a dedicated subwoofer out with low-pass filter and level control. Your media, your way You can plug your iPod® or iPhone® into the front USB input, or jack a satellte radio tuner or other device into audio/video input. CDs or DVDs are covered too — including discs loaded with MP3 or WMA files. If you're not using the navigation features, you can load a microSD card with your top road tunes and access them through the receiver's front card slot as well. And a dedicated input on the rear panel accommodates an optional rear-view camera to let you get in and out of tight spaces more easily. Blaupunkt also includes a wireless remote control so your passengers can choose their favorite tunes from anywhere in the vehicle. Want to keep your steering wheel controls? In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with a new car stereo.
